Scheduled reboot of UoA Nectar Linux VMs During Week of 15/7/24

• Scheduled start: Sun, 14 Jul 2024 9:00p.m. (UTC), Scheduled end: Fri, 19 Jul 2024 6:00a.m. (UTC)

Following some major security breaches at institutions both locally and abroad, UoA IT have asked us to increase the security posture of our Nectar Research Cloud VMs. We have developed a method that will allow us to run the occasional security scan against your Nectar Linux VM(s), and our intention is that this process involves minimal impact to you and your research. However, to implement this we need to reboot each of your Linux VMs; while they’re powered off (for approximately 5 minutes), we will apply the change. Owing to the facts that we’re a small team and this is a massive effort, we’re aiming to start working through restarting these and applying the change during the week beginning Monday July 15th, and hopefully finishing up by the end of the week.
